For more than 175 years, Royal Koopmans has been producing grain-based food solutions. One of the many parts of this family business is production division Koopmans Foodcoatings, formerly LaCo Crumbs. This breadcrumb producer has its own floor in Koopmans’ flour mills in Leeuwarden. The lighting in this department was in need of replacement in line with the energy-efficient and sustainable business philosophy.

Sense of responsibility

Koopmans’ raw materials come directly from nature. The company therefore feels a responsibility for the quality of the environment. So saving energy is an important goal for Koopmans. But reducing energy costs also plays a role here.
Opting for Dialight

The decision was made to use Dialight’s lighting fixtures. These are controlled by a system that regulates brightness. This means sufficient lighting is on when staff are present on the floor, but the lights dim when all the people have left. Combined with the switch to LED, this smart solution will result in such significant savings that the costs are expected to be recovered within 5-7 years.
The installation

Because of Koopmans’ automated production process, the smart system allows it to set exactly how much light is needed and when. This will result in total energy savings of 17,000 kWh. A custom solution to achieve Koopmans’ goals!
